A primary objective of The Karla Fund is to begin a process which instills a love of books from the time a child is born. We believe that this leads to preparedness in reading as well as to the entire learning process, and then ultimately to success in school. Good students who achieve success in school will eventually become good citizens in our community. In addition, our project increases the level of literacy in Ann Arbor which is a worthy goal of any community that values its members.
You can help us reach our objectives in a number of different ways:
We welcome the participation of volunteers who can help us during our fundraising events throughout the year. There is also a form on the page that you can fill out to let us know how you would like to help.
We welcome donations from individuals who support the mission of The Karla Fund. Your donation allows us to purchase materials for our reading packets that we give to parents of newborns at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor. Since we are a volunteer organization, 100% of your contribution will go into funding and promoting our children’s literacy program. A donation of just $25.00 will allow The Karla Fund to give reading packets to five sets of new parents.
